Progress

Home early tonight so went around to check the status. Last night we marked out where we want the Ducted Vacuum to be installed as we have a provision for 5 points throughout the house. We have 3 downstairs and 2 upstairs. We are installing the unit ourselves after handover as you can get a better deal with the size of the machine and the accessories then going through Metricon.
We want to ensure that it is a powerful unit that works well! Having had a few in other houses definitely worth the investment, makes life a little easier.

Glad to see they were all put in approx in the right locations to what we want. TV points have all been installed and the phone lines.

Electrical will go in next week and hopefully the carpenters will make a start on the weatherboard tomorrow. The outside is supposed to be at lock up by the end of next week.

We also had the front pillars rendered which when coloured dark should look great against the lighter colours of the upstairs.

The next few weeks we are supposed to have people on site everyday working on various things so hopefully things start to move a bit quicker now that it is almost at lock up.

One good thing: the doors at the back have been fixed and the chunky handles have been removed so that the proper hardware can be installed. Will look 100 times better.

All looking good so far!

Heating in !

Back from China! House Prgress

After a few weeks of being away in China for work it has been nice to come home to a lot of progress on the house.

The bricking was done very quickly with a crew of about 15 guys on site!

Today the back roof went on which now means we are totally waterproof now.

Heating system was also installed on both levels. Cooling we will put into the second floor after handover.

Windows and doors in our bedroom were also put in and look great - very happy with them and should look great stained in the dark colour against the wood panels.

In the last week the front pillars have also been rendered. The remaining house we will render after handover.

Summer is coming!

Tonight went for a walk on the beach after looking at the house. Was absolutely beautiful down there - pristine. So glad it is only a short walk from our front door!

Bricks!!

Went around tonight to find that 1/2 bottom floor had been completed - after a lot of delays they finally had a good day to make a start.
Must have had a lot of people on the job to get that much done.

Brick colour is not great but we are rendering the whole house. We also have some weatherboard on the second floor.

Can also see the roof colourbond colour - surf mist which we are pleased with. Most people in the estate have gone with Charcoal so nice to be different.

Colour Bond on!!

Finally after a lot of delays mostly due to weather we have a roof! Most of it done in one day. They just have the back room and outdoor room to complete.
Went around late tonight to have a quick look- hence sorry but no photos. It is very white! we have gone with surfmist so will be good to see in the daylight. We plan on rendering the whole house in a mix of dark and light colours so should be ok.

The brickies are due to start on Wednesday and apparently will have half the house done in 3-4 days! After thinking that nothing would get done this week glad to see some progress.

Our doors in the back continue to be a saga! They have been to fix the handles..they were supposed to remove the standard big plastic ones that come on the doors and leave it for Metricon to install the flush handles but instead the idiots replaced it with exactly the same thing!!! yes no brains. So now they have to come back and do it all again and the parts they missed.

Will update with some photos on the weekend.

NO Progress - excpet a progress payment!

After a week on consistently bad weather in Melbourne, the result is no progress on the house.
The roof was supposed to go on this week however in fairness would have been difficult to get a day that was safe to do so.
The frame was however passed by the inspector and we received another invoice for the Frame stage!
Hopefully giving them some money will help to find a brickie. Metricon apparently struggling to get a brickie to start our job due to a bit of shortage in supply.
